Clip terms of service
By using Clip you agree to these terms. The short version: Clip is free, runs on your own device, and you are responsible for the files you open in it.
1. What Clip is
Clip is a free, browser-based sermon clip editor. It transcribes, scores, cuts, captions and exports sermon media entirely on your device. "Clip" means the software this page or the editor provides, operated by Josiah Oslund.
2. Free use
Clip is provided free of charge, for personal and church use, and may be used without an account or registration. It is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis, without warranty of any kind, express or implied — including fitness for a particular purpose, or that it will run uninterrupted or error-free. Whisper transcription models are approximations: transcripts and captions can contain errors, and you are responsible for checking anything you publish.
3. Your content
- You are solely responsible for the files you open, the clips you make, and the text you generate from them.
- You must have the right to use the media you import: for example, that the sermon you edit is your own, a member of your ministry, or otherwise used with permission.
- Everything you make in Clip — transcripts, clips, exports, written collateral — belongs to you. This agreement gives Clip no ownership of your content.
- You may not use Clip to infringe copyright, impersonate or misrepresent, or process anything unlawful.
4. Privacy
Your handling of media is set out in the privacy policy, which forms part of these terms. In summary: media never leaves your device; transcript text is sent only for the two optional cloud features and only when you enable them; no accounts are created; no analytics or tracking are used.
5. Third parties
Clip loads the Whisper model and its runtime from third-party hosts in order to work offline afterwards; those hosts have their own terms applying to your downloads. The optional content feature calls a private model endpoint owned by Josiah Oslund. Use of any third-party service is at your own discretion.
6. Cloud features
Optional cloud features (content generation, cloud clip suggestions) may be subject to fair-use limits, such as a daily cap, and may be unavailable from time to time. When a cloud feature is not reachable, Clip falls back to local function wherever it can rather than failing your session.
7. Responsibility and liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Josiah Oslund is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss arising from use of Clip, even if advised of the possibility. Your exclusive remedy for any problem with the software is to stop using it. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
8. Changes
These terms may be updated from time to time; the date at the top reflects the latest revision. Continued use of Clip after a change means you accept the revised terms.
